Join our retail team as an Assistant Store Manager at our Saugus, MA Work ’N Gear location.

In this role, you will support the Store Manager in day-to-day store operations, team leadership, customer service, and sales execution. You’ll help create a positive, professional shopping experience while keeping the team focused, organized, and motivated.

This is a paid opportunity for someone who wants to grow their retail management skills and make a meaningful impact on store performance, team culture, and customer satisfaction

Duties

Assist in supervising daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures, inventory control, and cash handling.
Lead, motivate, and develop team members through effective training, coaching, and performance management.
Manage employee orientation, onboarding, and ongoing training to ensure high standards of customer service and operational excellence.
Oversee sales activities by implementing merchandising strategies, pricing policies, and promotional campaigns to maximize revenue.
Handle customer inquiries with professionalism using excellent phone etiquette and communication skills; resolve issues promptly to ensure satisfaction.
Conduct interviewing and recruiting efforts to build a talented team aligned with store goals; participate in scheduling shifts to optimize coverage.
Maintain accurate bookkeeping, payroll processing, inventory management, and POS (Point of Sale) system operation for seamless transactions.

Requirements

Proven experience in retail management or assistant manager roles with supervising experience in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently using time management techniques.
Excellent communication skills; bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus for engaging diverse customer bases.
Knowledge of retail math including sales management, pricing strategies, budgeting, and inventory control.
Familiarity with POS systems, cash handling procedures, merchandising, stocking, and store marketing initiatives.
Demonstrated leadership qualities such as coaching teams, supervising staff performance, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
