Safety Director (Houston, TX)

We are seeking a strategic and experienced safety leader to join our organization as Director of Safety. This executive-level role is designed to ensure a smooth transition as our current Safety Director prepares for retirement over the next several years, while also helping expand and strengthen the company’s overall safety operations.

The Director of Safety will play a critical role in shaping the future of the company’s safety culture, developing future safety leaders, and building a scalable safety department capable of supporting continued organizational growth and expansion. This position is not limited to day-to-day safety management responsibilities — it is a high-impact leadership role focused on strategy, organizational development, compliance, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and lead the company’s long-term safety strategy and vision
Create, implement, and maintain company-wide safety policies, standards, and procedures
Partner with executive leadership to support operational planning, risk management, and organizational growth initiatives
Lead the transition and succession planning of the current safety leadership structure
Build, structure, and grow the safety department from a 2-person team into a larger multi-site safety organization
Recruit, hire, mentor, develop, and evaluate Safety Managers and department personnel
Establish KPIs, performance metrics, and accountability standards for the safety function
Oversee departmental budgeting, staffing plans, and resource allocation
Ensure compliance with all applicable OSHA, regulatory, and company safety requirements
Support and prepare the organization for future expansion, including planned multi-location operations
Foster and strengthen a proactive company-wide safety culture focused on continuous improvement

Qualifications

10+ years of progressive safety leadership experience
Proven experience managing or leading safety programs within a growing organization
Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, risk management practices, and safety compliance standards
Demonstrated ability to build teams, develop leaders, and drive organizational change
Experience creating and implementing company-wide safety policies and strategic initiatives
Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and decision-making skills
Ability to work cross-functionally with operations, executive leadership, and field personnel
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Risk Management, or related field preferred
Professional certifications such as CSP, ASP, CHST, or equivalent are preferred
