Chief Security Officer (CSO)

We are supporting a fast-growing fintech business in the search for an experienced Chief Security Officer (CSO) to lead and scale its information and cybersecurity function.

This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for defining the company’s security strategy, protecting its products and technology, managing regulatory risk, and building a high-performing security team.

Key Responsibilities

Define and own the overall information and cybersecurity strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
Lead security operations, incident response, vulnerability management and security engineering.
Oversee security across infrastructure, applications, cloud environments, Web3 platforms and wallet systems.
Embed security-by-design principles across products, platforms and the software development lifecycle.
Establish and maintain secure SDLC, application security and product security practices.
Lead security risk assessments and ongoing risk-management activities.
Work closely with Compliance, Legal and Risk teams to meet regulatory, audit and certification requirements.
Maintain readiness for frameworks and certifications such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001.
Build, lead and scale a high-performing security team with clear accountability and effective processes.
Develop a strong security culture across the wider organization.
Communicate complex security risks clearly to executives and support informed business decisions.

Requirements

10+ years of experience within cybersecurity or information security.
Previous senior leadership experience as a CISO, Head of Security, Security Director or similar.
Experience within fintech, cryptocurrency, Web3 or another highly regulated environment.
Strong technical knowledge of security operations, application security and cloud security.
A strong understanding of Web3 and wallet security architecture.
Experience implementing secure SDLC and security-by-design practices.
Knowledge of cybersecurity risk frameworks, regulatory requirements and audit processes.
Experience with SOC 2, ISO 27001 and relevant financial or cloud security standards.
Proven ability to influence executive stakeholders and collaborate across Product, Engineering, Compliance, Legal and Risk.
Experience building, developing and scaling security teams.
Pragmatic, ownership-driven and comfortable operating in a fast-paced startup environment.
