Principal Cyber Defense Lead

Our client, a major national healthcare leader committed to improving wellness outcomes for millions, is looking for a Principal Incident Response Analyst to join their security division. This role is based in Hull, Illinois, and offers a flexible work environment within a stable and highly respected organization.

In this senior capacity, you will be responsible for managing the organizational response to security threats. You will take charge of the enterprise incident response strategy, identifying potential vulnerabilities and leading large scale remediation efforts. This position involves working closely with senior executives to provide strategic updates and collaborating with security architects to strengthen the overall defense posture.

Primary Responsibilities

Monitor the threat landscape for emerging breaches and initiate response protocols.

Oversee security audit schedules and conduct testing on access controls to identify gaps.

Develop and deploy automated scripts and contingency programs to counter active system attacks.

Integrate external threat intelligence and monitoring services into the internal security operations center.

Partner with engineering and software stakeholders to ensure robust protection across all platforms.

Maintain rigorous adherence to compliance standards and internal security policies.

Professional Qualifications

A university degree in a quantitative field such as Engineering, Computer Science, or Mathematics is preferred.

At least six to eight years of specialized experience in cybersecurity and incident response.

Deep understanding of threat actor techniques, tactics, and procedures.

Proficiency with indicators of compromise and advanced threat hunting.

Hands on experience with enterprise detection and response tools like CrowdStrike or Carbon Black.

Solid grasp of infrastructure technology including firewalls, switches, and network routing.

Proven ability to analyze complex data and draw actionable conclusions.

Strong project management capabilities and the ability to oversee multiple initiatives simultaneously.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical recommendations to executive leadership.

High level of accuracy and decision making skills while working under pressure.

Capacity to work independently and maintain technical proficiency in an evolving field.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary range for this position is between 121,500 and 224,900 dollars.
